MOVE LLN Transfer of Discover to CareersINFO

From the 30th July 2010 operations at MOVE LLN will be ceasing and work on Discover will be transferring to CareersINFO.
Having been in operation since January 2006 MOVE the Lifelong Learning Network for the East of England, has been working
to maximise opportunities for learners to progress to Higher Education through vocational routes.  By allocating 733 additional
student places, developing new curriculum, establishing over 450 progression routes and developing an online careers IAG
service called Discover to demonstrate progression, MOVE successfully ended its first phase of operation in July 2009.

Since August 2009 with a smaller team the main focus of MOVE LLN has been to sustain the online careers and IAG service
at http://www.discover.uk.net/.  To this end CareersINFO will be taking over Discover and will continue to develop this service
for a national roll-out.  They will also be working in collaboration with Phosphorix the software developer who has worked with
MOVE on Discover and its related programme Course Exchange, Phosphorix will retain the work on Course Exchange,
continuing to support and develop it for a national roll-out.

Both CareersINFO and Phosphorix will work together to help market and develop side-by-side to ensure continued interoperability
between the two products. The aim is to develop a joint strategy for the business within 12 months of MOVE's winding up.  CareersINFO
will liaise with the Association of Universities in the East of England (AUEE) and the Association of Colleges in the Eastern Region
(ACER) to keep them informed on progress and to ensure continued collaboration with our partners.

MOVE has highlighted its work on Discover and Course Exchange to JISC who funded some of the initial work on transforming course
advertising information into the recently BSI approved XCRI CAP standard.  Developed using open source software JISC are keen that
the opportunity to share and join in with the use of this resource is not missed and will be showcasing the work through JISC infoNet
with a view to institutions joining in the work nationally.

Ten institutions in the East of England have signed up to loading their course information into Course Exchange which converts the data
into XCRI CAP and allows progression links to be made that are demonstrated through Discover.  The information can also be shared with
other services that need up-to-date course information in XCRI CAP format.  The Association of Colleges in the Eastern Region (ACER)
will continue to have Discover as an agenda item on the Marketing and PR Forum.

For institutions wishing to get involved  with Discover http://www.discover.uk.net/ please contact:

before migrating to a new site provided by CareersINFO.  Reports have also been uploaded to the LLN National Forum:
